Pleino has no account, no advertising, and sells no data. Here is exactly what is processed.
1. Location
To calculate a result, your location (or the city you chose) is sent to our server. Pleino does not record it in its database; in route mode, only a fingerprint (hash) of the trip, rounded to about 100 m, is kept for at most 24 hours so the same calculation is not repeated.
The technical logs of our host (Vercel) that are available to us — the request address (which contains the location for some requests), the IP address and the app or browser identifier — are kept about 24 hours. Vercel processes this data under its own policy.
To calculate routes, our servers send Mapbox the location and, in route mode, the destination; for a destination search, the text you type. The request leaves from our servers: Mapbox does not receive your IP address. Mapbox processes this data under its own privacy policy, in which it describes itself as an independent controller, and may keep and use it to provide and improve its services.
When a destination search matches a city or a place rather than a street address, Pleino keeps the result in a cache, not linked to you.
2. Price watch and alerts (iPhone, optional)
If you turn on the price watch, Pleino keeps: a device identifier provided by Apple for notifications, the location and name of the watched area (a city, or a station from your search or your saved stations — not your GPS position), the fuel, the radius, the target price, whether Costco is included, the language, the date of your consent and the history of alerts sent. Apple receives that identifier and the text of each alert.
In Settings, you can pause the watch, turn it off (the data is then kept) or choose "Delete my data", which erases it from our database (our current plan includes no backups). If you uninstall the app without deleting the watch, this data stays on file: write to us to have it erased.
3. My stations and preferences
Your saved stations, your vehicle, your fuel and your settings are kept on your device. The stations, the fuel, the vehicle's consumption, and the tank's size and level are sent with requests to calculate prices and costs; the vehicle category is logged with each calculation (see 4). The widget and CarPlay read these settings on the device.
4. Service logs
Each calculation is logged without location or identifier: stations, prices, costs, verdict and vehicle category. These logs serve the operation and quality of the service and are deleted after 90 days.
5. Usage statistics (optional)
If you accept, the app ties its usage events (for example: result shown, navigation started, app version, vehicle category and consumption) to a random installation identifier, with no name or email. Events are deleted after 90 days and the identifier 90 days after its last use. Declining limits no feature.
The choice is offered the first time you open the app, and you can change it at any time: Settings › Usage statistics (iPhone app from version 1.3.3, and the web app). Turning the setting off stops collection from that moment: the app erases the installation identifier from your device and sends no further statistics. If you turn it back on, a new identifier is created. On an earlier version of the iPhone app, update the app, or delete and reinstall it (the question is asked again).
Turning the setting off does not erase the statistics already received: they are deleted on the schedule above. Because they carry no name or email, and the app does not display the random identifier, we cannot retrieve one particular device's statistics on request.
6. Reports
If you report a result, we receive the reason you chose, your optional note (500 characters max.), the prices and costs shown and rounded distances — never your location — and the installation identifier if you accepted the statistics. Kept 90 days.
7. Shared verdicts
A verdict you share is kept 90 days so the recipient can see it; it contains no location or identifier. We record the number of times it is opened and, for each visit, the browser type and the language.
8. IP address
Kept at most 48 hours in our database to limit abuse, and about 24 hours in the logs of our host that are available to us.
9. Brand logos
Station logos are loaded from a Google service, which then receives your IP address, your device or browser type and the brand's name.
10. Website
On pleino.ca only, Google Analytics 4 measures traffic after your consent (banner); no advertising feature is enabled, and Google Analytics 4 anonymizes IP addresses (it does not keep them). To withdraw that consent, clear your browser's cookies. The iPhone app does not use Google Analytics.
11. Processors and providers
Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database), Mapbox (routes and place search), Apple (notifications), Google (logos; website statistics). Prices: Régie de l'énergie du Québec (public data). Navigation: Maps, Google Maps or Waze, where you are redirected.
12. Your rights
You can delete a price watch in the app (Settings › Price watch › Delete my data), decline or turn off the statistics (Settings › Usage statistics), and write to us to access your information, have it corrected or deleted, or withdraw a consent: contact@pleino.ca.
